Apparently the Innsbruck Crankworx course is so big you can see it from space. OK small exaggeration, but it is stupidly big, like more hang time than being shot out of cannon big. These piles of dirt, whose size you can only truly appreciate in the flesh are the reason why Crankworx is considered not just the biggest event in the sport but one of the most iconic Action sports series in the world. Fans from all over the world flock to Crankworx, a five-day festival of mountain biking to watch the best riders in the world launch into orbit, take on some of Innsbruck’s legendary trails and wind down in the Alps biggest and most vibrant city.
It’s a city, but it’s also like a massive adventure playground. Surrounded by mountains it has cable cars that will take you straight to the snow in winter, there are 3 bike parks, 3 skate parks, walking trails that take you from suburbs to summit and a wonderfully eclectic mix of bars, restaurants and galleries that you won’t find anywhere else in the alps.
Crankworx kicks off on Wednesday and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to our new home for a packed week of action whether it’s in the flesh or virtually through the live streaming coverage. The contests start with the Whip Off on Wednesday, then it’s the Pump Track Challenge, followed by the legendary Mons Dual Speed and Style. Saturday sees the slope take centre stage and the Downhill closes the show on Sunday. Perhaps the only thing more grueling than the riding schedule are the parties, a relentless week of good times that will test the endurance of even the strongest liver.
Mons have a tent on the hill, so if you’re around come up and see us. If you’re further afield then make sure you tune in for the Mons Speed and Style on the Cranworx live stream. Our own Conor MacFarlane will be competing and if you want to follow his journey from Wanaka to Innsbruck, you can with our series Road To Crankworx.
You can also keep up on all the action, gossip and good times on our social channels. See you in Innsbruck.
